As Clare Short is finally invited into the Chilcot inquiry, we are now able to open up a solid sealed book of secrets on the legality of the war. Despite Tony Blair's obvious hints towards the proved unlegality of the war, the unflinching and right minded committee members could be considered to be very lukewarm with their questioning. I find that, despite being placed in the to question and scrutiny of those involved in the cabinet at the time and decision to go to war, we are not being exposed the truth. Maybe its in order to not upset the public who are struggling to come to terms with the fact that it is almost certain that we enter the 9th anniversery of entering a war that was not neccesary. Not only does this hurt the reputation of the government who have seen to be falling apart, scandal after scandal, but how will this play up in the hands of labour critics in using militray families as bait to rouse up the public into hatred. The supposed 'war on terror' has now had claims to have been decided upon before the occurance of any terrorist attacks. I believe it is safe to say that the territory we are uncovering is no longer an attack on the business intrested, capitalist led conservative systems of governing of the US and UK, or their aims to unocover oil in the middle-east, but a power hungry freindship in nations using the disease of 'democatric ideals' in order to replicca a cold war victory.As the people were blind sided by Obamas bid to pull out of Iraq, there was one factor many did not take into consideration; the abondonment of a nation left under the shreads of confused soldiers, a corrupt governemnt and broken down economy. No, the troubles in Iraq are far from over.
But maybe when were celebrating the 2012 games with our laissez faire tory administration, the middle east will be suffering due to the silly games of the UK and US who just wanted those dear old nuces to play with and gallons of oil to consume. with the existence if the long awaited Iraq inquiry, we are led to believe that change is occuring, that Iraq is gaining some solution. However, even though our belated nation is simply attempting to make ammends by clarrifying who is to blame, nothing is done about this.
Overall, a round of applause was indeed neccesary for Clare Short's testiomony. This may be as near to the truth we will ever get. As for the attorney general, Lord Goldsmith, i believe its safe to say hes unable to cover his tracks. After being mentioned several times in Clares Short's statement, it could certainly be clarified that he was a leading figure in covering up the tracks of Blairs friendly chats with Bush, aswell as vastly misleading the governement and keeping the cabinet in the shaodws of a matter which was meant to have been discussed with all cabinet members.
